ColorGuide
This mode indicates recommendations for adjustment inorder to get memorized L*a*b* values through a change of density. A minimum ΔE*a*b* is additionally entered and remains even if the best possible density adjustment is done. The color guide contains the L*a*b* reference values for process standard printing and for special colors. It is also possible to use a sample you have measured as a reference.
Step by step:
How to get adjustment recommendations for CMYK:
1. Please make if necessary a copy of the memorized references and delete the reference memory.
2. Select “Search automatically” in the reference menu.
3. Select in the color book the right paper type for the printing support for example PT 1 -Printing”. Transfer the memorized values with “Color book >> Reference memory” in the memory reference:

4. Select measuring mode ColorGuide.
5. Measure first paper white.
6. If after measurement of paper white the display shows that the reference values have been measured under other measuring conditions, the adjustments of the SpectroDens differ from the ProcessStandard for Offset Printing:

Make sure that the measuring conditions are as above.
7. Measure the first solid patch , for-example CYAN. Following display is indicated:
The recommendation for adjustment:
Increase of 9 points the density for Cyan
The actual measurement corresponds to a density of 1.30D and has a reference value ΔE of 2.4.
As densities are measured without polarisation filter they are lower than densities according to the DIN 16536 recommendations!
The ideal density of D1.39 has a ΔE of 1.4.
The sample has been compared with the reference Cyan.
The lowest the deviation between sample and reference is, the most precise the recommendation for the adjustment will be. This is why the minimal value ΔE might slightly change after a density adjustment.
